TRINITY WINS MCPHERSON TOURNAMENT!!! The Trinity Men's soccer team won their championship game against the home team McPherson Bullpups after double overtime and a shootout. The Knights played tough and the ball possession went back and forth throughout the game. Both teams had a number of opportunities to score during regulation time. The score at the end of regulation was 0-0. They then went into two 10 minute overtimes, with the score remaining at zeros. This set up a shootout with each team electing 5 players each to take shots at the opposing team's goalie. And what a shootout it was! Josh Funk scored first for the Knights, then Trinity's goalie, Joey Kinnevan, stopped McPherson's first shot. Scott Henderson had a miss on a crossbar shot, then Kinnevan stopped McPherson's second shot. David Friedberg scored the next one for TA, then the Bullpups scored to make the score 2-1 Knights. Kelly Porter put the next shot in for Trinity, then McPherson scored again to make the score 3-2 Knights. The last one up for TA was Cooper Hanning who was able to put the ball in the net to clinch the win for Trinity. The crowd went wild! It was a sweet Victory for our Soccer Men!! Josh Funk and Cooper Hanning were named to the All-Tournament team and Kelly Porter was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player. The team did what they do best- played like a team, the Defense was exemplary and shut down McPherson's scoring drives. Congratulations KNIGHTS!
